End of May, Orzone premiered with the worlds most realistic and comprehensive training environment: Orcamp – during the EuroPCR congress in Paris. Based on a curriculum developed in partnership with Prof. Jean Marco/EuroPCR and Dr. John Edmond/Bristol Heart Institute, participating Cardiologists and nurses were given the opportunity to practice an Acute Coronary Syndrome case.
The procedure was performed in the realistic hybrid training operating room Orcamp, produced by Orzone, and was done on a virtual reality representation of a real patient, programmed by Mentice. The curriculum was firmly based on current clinical guidelines and included a didactic component prior to performing diagnostic angiography and angioplasty on the virtual patient. Distinguished proctors came from the EuroPCR faculty, and the trainee sessions for the whole EuroPCR week filled quickly at the beginning of the conference.
A Face Validity study was completed and preliminary results have been analyzed by Prof. Anthony Gallagher, Belfast and showed a very positive result. The overall assessment of ‘Global Realism’ of the new hybrid simulator, Orcamp, was assessed by the cardiologists as 96% in terms of how it looked and behave in comparison to an actual Cath. Lab. The operating room will now tour Europe and similar training sessions will be offered at the Interventional Radiology meeting CIRSE beginning of October. One operating room will be installed at Imperial College in London this summer.
